It’s Not All Black and White

by

What’s black and white and red all over? My dad pulled that one on me at least once when I was growing up. The news, of course!

Just look what comes out of black and white piano keys. Often, a whole lot does.

I took piano lessons in those same growing up years when my dad could get away with his riddles, but not very much came of the lessons. We couldn’t afford a piano, or we didn’t have space for one. I’m not sure which. Practicing piano is next to impossible without one. But my mother, being the industrious one, brought home a folding paper keyboard. I was underwhelmed. The sound coming from the keys is what it’s all about.

Have you ever tried making music and nothing responds?
Or the reverse: Have you found music in things that aren’t musical?

Look in the Bible at Isaiah 55:12
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

I just love it when music comes out of the unexpected!
