Eastbound from Flagstaff

The first novel in the My Father trilogy is the 1920s epic, unique in its purposeful illumination of the human condition with its ideological indifference to God. It asks the question, “Why was God silent when I needed Him?” The answer for Simon Hagan isn’t blowing in the backwinds of his dream chase; rather, it is unfolding in the outstretched hand of the villain.

The story of Simon Hagan is that of a young man, running from a lie, intent on believing his efforts and perseverance can overcome anything. He abandons roots that are his foundational strength and hides behind his charm, living every moment as if life’s daring him to fail—again. He’s reckoning with his father’s God who could have delivered better outcomes but didn’t.

Eastbound from Flagstaff portrays an individual who comes to recognize the significance of family, loyalty, and the richness of his heritage. Simon’s return to the notion of forgiveness is the catalyst for a new beginning as the future unveils for him a future he thought was the impossible dream.

About the Author

Annette Valentine

Annette Valentine is the author of the engaging and inspirational trilogy entitled My Father, a series that will leave you hungering for a fourth book. “Who knows?” she says with a delightfully serious note. “They’re each spirited sagas that focus on the deep love of a father for his child, and that, my friend, is a never-ending story! So perhaps there will be an upcoming fourth in the series.”

Eastbound from Flagstaff was her award-winning debut novel, and Down to the Potter’s House is the second in the series. Sufficient Sacrifice is the third.

Her writing began with a knack for believing in spine-tingling ghost stories and Nancy Drew mysteries. At the heart of this creative and intensely energetic writer is her purposeful compassion that launches an advocacy of the anti-human trafficking movement.

Annette is a graduate of Purdue University and a retired professional interior designer, having enjoyed a gratifying 34-year career. As a way to continue sharing beauty and good design, Annette owns Valentine House, a unique gift boutique in Franklin, Tennessee. She lives near Nashville with her husband Walt. They have two grown children, six grandchildren, and a beloved Boxer named Heidi.
