Voice of the Turtledove

by

Weather permitting, birdsong fills my bedroom each morning when I crack open the window to hear it. The sweet sound is a free gift of nature. And with the unseasonably warm temperatures forcing buds to blossom, there’s yet another readily available reminder of beauty and freedom. It seems good that I can open a window and hear God’s creation, open my eyes to see it. I like the Bible verse that reminds me of the responsibility attached to enjoying that goodness, for surely our land has been richly endowed with it. “The flowers have already appeared in the land; the time has arrived for pruning the vines. The voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.” Song of Solomon 2:12
