Sufficient Sacrifice

Sufficient Sacrifice is a provocative coming-of-age twist on the chasm between a father and child and is focused on Alexandra Hagan during the 1960s as she wrestles with deep longing and loss. Captivating prose details her early childhood experience and her ensuing misperceived separation from the most basic human relationship. Left to navigate the riptides of confusion in an ocean of possibilities, Alexandra determines to dabble at life apart from her father’s love.

Sufficient Sacrifice presents an exceptional contrast of the push for independence and the desire for an immovable anchor for her soul. Alexandra drifts far from her father’s reach with her missteps and detours, her experiences surrendering a story that will touch your heart, even break your heart. Through laughter, tears, reflecting, and reaching, Sufficient Sacrifice will return you home—full circle—to consider for yourself grace and forgiveness.

displays a beautiful description of the past

“…I grew up on a farm, and I found many childhood memories I thought were long forgotten were suddenly aroused by certain phrases, or in some cases, even a single word that the author uses in her chapters. Her writing displays a beautiful description of the past.”

About the Author

Annette Valentine

Annette Valentine is the author of the engaging and inspirational trilogy entitled My Father, a series that will leave you hungering for a fourth book. “Who knows?” she says with a delightfully serious note. “They’re each spirited sagas that focus on the deep love of a father for his child, and that, my friend, is a never-ending story! So perhaps there will be an upcoming fourth in the series.”

Eastbound from Flagstaff was her award-winning debut novel, and Down to the Potter’s House is the second in the series. Sufficient Sacrifice is the third.

Her writing began with a knack for believing in spine-tingling ghost stories and Nancy Drew mysteries. At the heart of this creative and intensely energetic writer is her purposeful compassion that launches an advocacy of the anti-human trafficking movement.

Annette is a graduate of Purdue University and a retired professional interior designer, having enjoyed a gratifying 34-year career. As a way to continue sharing beauty and good design, Annette owns Valentine House, a unique gift boutique in Franklin, Tennessee. She lives near Nashville with her husband Walt. They have two grown children, six grandchildren, and a beloved Boxer named Heidi.
