Sufficient Sacrifice

Sufficient Sacrifice is a provocative coming-of-age twist on the chasm between a father and child and is focused on Alexandra Hagan during the 1960s as she wrestles with deep longing and loss. Captivating prose details her early childhood experience and her ensuing misperceived separation from the most basic human relationship. Left to navigate the riptides of confusion in an ocean of possibilities, Alexandra determines to dabble at life apart from her father’s love.

Sufficient Sacrifice presents an exceptional contrast of the push for independence and the desire for an immovable anchor for her soul. Alexandra drifts far from her father’s reach with her missteps and detours, her experiences surrendering a story that will touch your heart, even break your heart. Through laughter, tears, reflecting, and reaching, Sufficient Sacrifice will return you home—full circle—to consider for yourself grace and forgiveness.

About the Author

Annette Valentine

Long before she began devoting herself to the challenge of writing novels, Annette owned Valentine Interiors in Brentwood, Tennessee (sold in 2016), claiming the early morning hours of the day and a few on the weekends to focus on a different creative pursuit—inspirational/historical storytelling.

Her writing overflows with a mature understanding of the deep, deep love of a father for his children and the all-too-common circumstances of typical conflicts that impede the most important human relationships.

Born in Murray, Kentucky to an English teacher and the personnel manager of Tappan Stove Company, Annette would eagerly attribute the creativity instilled in her as a child and during her growing up years to her mother’s keen appreciation for language, beauty, and good design, an influence that later culminated in the interior design degree Annette earned from Purdue University.

In 1984 Annette started her design business which spanned 34 years in two states and showcased her award-winning career as a professional designer. She taught at Purdue University and served on numerous boards as an advocate for family services, the Chamber of Commerce, Rotarian outreach endeavors, prison ministry, and Habitat For Humanity.

Annette has been actively involved as an advocate and volunteer with organizations that rescue, educate, and redirect survivors of human trafficking (End Slavery Tennessee and the International Justice Mission initiative), supporting victims of child sexual abuse (Our Kids), aiding resources who identify and expel lies that would destroy hope for a life worth living.

When she’s not writing novels based on the Heavenly Father’s powerful love for His children or being one small voice of objection to the magnitude of lies that abound to obscure it, Annette devotes time to her home decor and gift boutique, Valentine House in Franklin, Tennessee.

She is married to Walt, and they happily reside near Nashville, Tennessee. They are the parents of a son, a daughter, and the grandparents of six beloved kids. Heidi-dog is a bonus.
